What Does the Privacy Policy Cover?

Pixel Tags: We may use “Pixel Tags” (also referred to as clear Gifs, Web beacons, or Web bugs). Pixel Tags are tiny graphic images with a unique identifier, similar in function to Cookies, that are used to track online movements of Web users. In contrast to Cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, Pixel Tags are embedded invisibly in Web pages. Pixel Tags allow us to send e-mail messages in a format users can read, and they tell us whether e-mails have been opened to ensure that we are sending only messages that are of interest to our users. We may use this information to reduce or eliminate messages sent to a user. We do not tie the information gathered by Pixel Tags to our users’ Personal Data.

Google Analytics: We may use Google Analytics to help analyze how users use the PLC Site. Although we take appropriate measures to safeguard against unauthorized disclosures of personally identifiable information, we cannot guarantee that personally identifiable information in our possession on the main Powell Legal Counsel, Ltd website, (i.e.; via the Contact Us or Sign up forms), will never be disclosed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy. We otherwise store all of our information, including your IP address information, using industry-standard techniques. Client Portal Web Site
The PLC - MyLegalAffairs - client portal site that is hosted and maintained by our affiliate, DirectLaw, Inc, has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of user information under the control of the PLC, Ltd. Industry accepted standards are employed in protecting personal information, and the DirectLaw Site uses SSL [Secure Socket Layer] technology in transmitting sensitive information. For example: in order to use the client portal site features, a user must first complete the registration form. During the registration process a user is required to give their contact information (name, phone number, city, state, zip code and email address). Sensitive information; namely credit card number, name and billing zip code, is collected but is only used to contact the user about the documents and services for which they have expressed interest, as well as to process payment for services/documents procured. Please do not send e-mail to PLC, Ltd with personal information. All personal information should be sent through your secure client portal web space that was created at the time you registered on the PLC Site. Otherwise, we have no way to secure personal information sent via e-mail because this information can be accessed by other users on the Internet. If you send us e-mail to ask a question, we will only use the information you provide to answer your request.

What Are Your Privacy Options?
You have several choices regarding the use of information on the PLC Site.

Email Communications & Opt-Out: We may periodically send you free newsletters and promotional e-mails if you have indicated that you would like us to do so. When you receive newsletters or promotional communications from us, you may indicate a preference to stop receiving further communications from us and you will have the opportunity to “opt-out” by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in the e-mail you receive or by contacting us directly (please see contact information below). Changing or Deleting Your Personal Data: Personal Data submitted for document generation is deleted daily by an automated process. Personal Data submitted for other purposes will be retained for such period as may be required to fulfill the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, or such other period as may be required by law. You may request deletion of your Personal Data by us, and we will use commercially reasonable efforts to honor your request, but please note that we may be required by law to keep such information and not delete it (or to keep this information for a certain time, in which case we will comply with your deletion request only after we have fulfilled such requirements). When we delete any information, it will be deleted from the active database, but may remain in our archives.

Your Data Protection Rights as a California Resident: California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the “Shine The Light” law, permits users of the PLC Site, who are California residents, to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year.
