I am an entrepreneur and lawyer. Also, as a former IT professional , I have a strong background in information technology, business processes, business analysis and business strategy so I am able to serve as a true generalist offering my client businesses strategic comprehensive business advice and counsel from a legal perspective.
I’m not a BIG FIRM lawyer but am a BIG FIRM advocate and business partner to my clients…

I make it a primary goal to first learn about and understand my clients and the business they have worked or are working hard to build. I believe in respecting my clients and what they do which adds value to what I do for them. I am proud of the fact that my clients never feel ignored and trust me to collaborate on and/or take care of matters that are critical to the success of their business.

You might be thinking that I’ve just committed career suicide because, as a legal professional, how can I actually admit that I do not know it all? But what I’ve come to learn is that my clients need competence and the ability for me to problem solve to help get things done – not for me to be an "all knowing" mastermind.

Ms. Powell is the founding attorney and principal of Powell Legal Counsel, Ltd. She is a graduate of University of California, Berkeley and obtained her law degree from the The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. Ms Powell has been in the practice of law for over 15 years and is licensed to practice law in the USA (Illinois) and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (trademarks only). She is also a licensed Solicitor (lawyer) of England & Wales (including Commonwealth countries).
